Alyssa Harris is the President of Alpha Chi Chapter

Allyssa L. Harris RN, PhD, WHNP-BC is the new President of the Alpha Chi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International at Boston College.

Dr. Harris is an assistant professor at the William F. Connell School of Nursing at Boston College.  She is a NCC certified women’s health nurse practitioner.  Her scholarly expertise is in examining the sexual risk behaviors of adolescents and developing and designing interventions that reduce these risk behaviors.  Her current research has been funded by NIMH and Yale University and focuses on examining African American father-son sexual communication.

Dr. Harris has published a number of articles on Women’s Health issues including contraception, and decision-making.   Dr. Harris has received awards for Education from the New England Regional Black Nurses Association and was a finalist for the Inspiration in Women’s Health award from the Nurse Practitioners for Women’s Health Association.  She holds a faculty nurse scientist appointment at Massachusetts General Hospital and is a board member for the New England Regional Black Nurses Association and holds membership in the National Black Nurses Association and Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health professional organizations.
