The Heritage Committee shall secure and maintain archival records for the chapter. This will include pertinent official, financial and committee reports and records, as well as memorabilia having historical values.


Membership in the Heritage Committee

  1. The Heritage Committee shall be composed of no less than three chapter members.
  2. One member of the committee shall be designated as the Archivist who shall oversee the collection and preservation of historical materials. 
  3. In addition, the Nursing Reference Librarian of the Boston College O’Neill Library and staff from the Burns Library (archives and special collections) shall be considered as resources and advisors to this committee. 


Meetings of the Heritage Committee

Meetings will be scheduled as needed for preparation of and organizing and carrying out archival displays or other projects undertaken by the committee.  


Responsibilities of the Heritage Committee

  1. The Heritage Committee shall obtain and organize for permanent storage those chapter records that have historical value as listed in the Sigma Theta Tau International guidelines.  
  2. Work with Burns Library staff to develop effective means to preserve chapter records be it paper or electronic. 
  3. Work with other chapter committees to make historical information available on the chapter website or on chapter social media sites.
  4. Act as a resource for other committees that need historical data for projects.
  5. Prepare such displays as are needed for chapter, regional, and international events.
  6. Keep an ongoing historical record of chapter development. 
  7. Submit an annual report of the Heritage Committee to the chapter President and present an oral report at the Annual Spring Business meeting.
