Student Poster Presentation at ENRS

Beth Harvey CSON 2013

On March 28, I attended the 24th Annual Scientific Sessions of the Eastern Nursing Research Society in New Haven, Connecticut. Here I presented my poster entitled, "Evolution of Spirituality Research Using the Roy Adaptation Model from 1970-2009. Almost immediately, it caught the attention of many conference attendees. I spent the next two hours explaining my work and engaging in many interesting conversations about the subject. It was such a great opportunity to meet so many esteemed nursing professionals and hear all of their feedback. The next day I attended several different paper sessions, my favorite being "Challenges in Acute Care".

I have had the honor of working as an Undergraduate Research Fellow for Sr. Callista Roy, PhD since the beginning of my sophomore year. With the assistance of Sr. Roy, I created this poster as a way to demonstrate how the use of the Roy Adaptation Model has evolved since its creation, with a particular focus on spirituality research. I had never imagined that I would get to do this type of work as an undergraduate, let alone present my research at a professional conference. Working with Sr. Roy has not only given me an intimate look at nursing research, but has opened many doors for me professionally as well. Attending this year's ENRS Conference was an amazing experience and I hope to go again in the future.

Other Alpha Chi students attending ENRS were Christy Tran, Kelly Leonard and Brianna Sacco.
